Linux is one of the most popular OS because it is so cheap to install and get up and running. Windows is another popular OS for web hosting providers because it has a lot of support. As for me, I'm using Linux and so far have no problem with it although they are actually right that it usually depends on the requirement. The first time I purchased my hosting I've not idea which to choose and which is better but I just chose linux and it did okay.Comment

It can't be said that which one is better. There are both type of peoples who prefers to use Linux and Windows. Those who are familiar with cPanel control panel for them Linux is good and people who are more familiar with Windows should go for Windows Web Hosting plans with Plesk control panel. Since, PHP and MySQL are compatible with both Linux and Windows there is an advantage for web developers using PHP and MySQL. They can build their websites on both Linux as well as on Windows.Comment
